This collage deals with the moments of pain, grief and uncertainty that are part of the creative process. We all doubt and sometimes hurt when creating something true. Exposing what lives within us and presenting it to a world that isnt always kind can be scary. There even is an element of grief, of letting go, when we bring new art into the world. I can only create when I show love to this inner being that struggles with the process, when I give myself a mental hug and let a new idea take wings.

Hanna Dierks is a self-taught artist currently based in Malmö, Sweden. She works in a variety of mediums but currently focusses on collage.
Her themes revolve around female identity and experience, creativity, the interplay of body and mind, and the search for beauty.
