The observant eye notices that the girl is wearing a polka-dot dress in white and red, Denmark's colours, while the little dog sports yellow and red, the colours of Skåne. Once Denmark's wealthiest province, Skåne became Swedish, and the tensions that ensued are still felt, although much has improved. Indeed, not least because of the bridge that connects our countries. Undoubtedly, the girl and her sweet pup will soon become friends despite the colour difference.

The lookout point they're sitting on is filled with love locks. The tradition of love locks, where couples affix a padlock to a bridge or other public structure and then throw away the key to symbolise their everlasting love, has become a popular romantic ritual in many parts of the world. This act of sealing one's love has both symbolic and sentimental significance, representing the unbreakable bond between two individuals.

Optimistically, tossing away the key signifies a commitment to the relationship without any reservations or escape routes. It's a declaration of trust and devotion, suggesting that the couple is confident in their love and believes it will endure any challenges that come their way.

On the other hand, the more pragmatic approach of purchasing a combination lock reflects a desire to maintain a sense of practicality and control within the relationship. By keeping the ability to unlock the padlock if needed, these individuals acknowledge the possibility of uncertainty or change in the future. This approach may stem from a belief in being prepared for any eventuality, even in a romantic relationship.

Ultimately, whether one throws away the key or opts for a combination lock, participating in the love lock tradition is a personal expression of commitment and affection. It's a tangible symbol of love's enduring nature, regardless of the approach taken to secure it.
Tensions between Swedes and Danes have often been expressed in football matches and national competitions, where historical rivalries and cultural differences play out on the field.
Football matches between Sweden and Denmark are charged with national pride and passion, often reflecting deeper animosities. The rivalry extends beyond the game itself, encompassing stereotypes and prejudices. Swedes may mockingly refer to Danes as "De fulde svenskere (the drunken Swedes), while Danes may jest about Swedes speaking with a mouthful of porridge.
Such banter, while often light-hearted, underscores a longstanding cultural divide. The historical hostility between the two nations is sometimes humorously attributed to a divine intervention: legend has it that when God had only two languages left to assign to countries, the Netherlands won, leaving Denmark with a tongue that sounded like they were speaking with porridge in their mouths.
However, a genuine rivalry fuels the competitive spirit amidst the jests and jibes. Football matches between Sweden and Denmark are about goals and victories and asserting national identity and superiority.
Despite the occasional tensions, there's a shared recognition of mutual respect and admiration. The rivalry may be intense on the field, but Swedes and Danes often come together off the pitch, appreciating each other's cultures and histories.
Ultimately, whether on the football pitch or in everyday life, the relationship between Swedes and Danes is a complex tapestry of competition, camaraderie, and cultural exchange.

Of Dogs and Cats, Cats and Mice: Exploring Differences and Unexpected Alliances

In the vast tapestry of life, differences are the threads that weave together the rich fabric of existence. From the playful antics of dogs to the aloof elegance of cats and even the age-old tale of the cat and the mouse, diversity is everywhere, shaping our world in ways both expected and surprising.

Consider the dog and the cat, two beloved companions of humanity, yet as different as night and day. A loyal and exuberant dog bounds through life with unbridled enthusiasm, eager to please its human companions. Its wagging tail and eager eyes speak volumes of its unwavering devotion. On the other hand, the mysterious and independent cat moves with graceful precision, content to wander the world on its terms. With a flick of its tail and a purr of contentment, it asserts its autonomy, reminding us that it is a creature of its design.

Then there is the timeless saga of the cat and the mouse, a tale as old as time. For generations, cats have been portrayed as cunning predators, stalking their prey with silent precision. Yet, in this eternal game of cat and mouse, there is more than meets the eye. While the cat may be the hunter, the mouse is not without its tricks up its sleeve. With nimble feet and quick wits, it evades capture repeatedly, proving that even the most diminutive creature can outsmart its adversaries.

And what of the war of the sexes, a battle as old as humanity itself? In the annals of history, men and women have often found themselves at odds, locked in a perpetual struggle for dominance. Yet, amid conflict, there are moments of unexpected camaraderie. Take, for instance, the tale of the world's number one, Billie Jean King and her overbearing male opponent on the tennis court in 1973. In a match that seemed destined for animosity, King's skill and determination prevailed, leading to a surprising outcome. Despite their differences, the two adversaries found common ground, forging a bond that transcended their rivalry. Ultimately, they emerged not as foes but as friends, united by their shared love of the game and women's equality and strength.

In the grand tapestry of life, differences are not divisions but threads that bind us together in unexpected ways. Whether it's the playful antics of dogs and cats, the eternal struggle of the cat and the mouse, or the age-old battle of the sexes, diversity enriches our lives, reminding us that we find our most authentic selves in our differences.

Lite om bilder och mig. Translation in English at the end.

A bit about pictures and me.

I'm a curious person who sees everything in pictures, even what I express in words, often combining them, for behind all my pictures lies a story. These narratives, some as short as a single image and others as long as a novel, are the heart and soul of my work.

Pictures tell stories. Wherever I go, I'm surrounded by natural beauty, exciting people, and history. I use my camera to document the world and blend what I see with what I feel to capture the hidden magic.
My images tell my stories. Through my pictures, prints, and narratives, I invite you to partake in these stories in your life and home and share my deeply personal perspective of our world. More than meets the eye. I think in pictures, dream, write, and talk about them; consequently, I must create images too. They become what I see, not necessarily confined to reality. There's a picture around every corner. I hope you'll see what I saw and enjoy it.

I'm also a writer, and many images come with a shorter or longer essay. It accompanies the painting, printed on fine paper with my personal greeting.

Many pictures start their journey on my camera. Simply put, I describe the image I see in my mind, experienced or imagined. The image arises within me even before I bring the eyepiece to my eye. In a fraction of a moment, I see what I want and what can be done with the picture. Here, I'll insert a giraffe, Superman, the Titanic, or whatever my imagination conjures up. Even stranger is that I remember the mental image long after it's time to create the work. Whether I succeed is up to the observer, often imbued with a streak of black humour – the aim is to entertain. My pictures usually become a talking point wherever they hang.

I prefer pictures that convey a message in multiple layers. At first glance, they're filled with feel-good vibes, a beautiful view, lovely weather, the sun shining, flowers in the meadow, or the water lying deceptively calm. But beneath this surface beauty, I often conceal a deeper story, a narrative that challenges societal norms or explores the human condition. I invite you to delve into these hidden narratives and discover the layers of meaning within my work.

Picture and design have been a thread running through my life. Photographic art feels like a fitting finale, and I'm happy to share it.
My genre is varied, as seen in my pictures; the theme is a blend of pop and street art in collages that can consist of hundreds of layers. Some images can take weeks, others just a day before it's time to hand over the result to the print workshop. Fine Art Prints are digital photo collages. In these collages, tearing, cutting, puzzling, painting, drawing, and spraying happen digitally. What I insert can be images hundreds of years old that I carefully extract so they appear to be part of the painting, but also images created by myself, now also generated from my imagination. Next, visit the print studio and, for certain images, number a limited edition (usually 7 copies) and sign them by hand. Some images may be available in other formats. Just ask which ones. If you like an image that's 70x100 but doesn't have space on the wall, you might be able to get it in 50x70 cm instead. The question is open.

The Giclée method, or Fine Art Print as it's also called, is the modern way of producing graphic art. This method ensures the highest quality and longevity of the artwork, using a high-quality large-format printer with archival pigment inks and artist paper or, in some cases, canvas. The paper used meets the longevity requirements set by museums and galleries. I sell my pictures unframed, allowing the new owner to personalise their artwork, confident in the lasting value and quality of the piece.

For many years, I only exhibited online, in selected groups, and on my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/jorgen.thornberg.9. I also have my website, which unfortunately is not constantly updated - https://www.jth.life/. You can also read some of the stories accompanying the pictures there.
