Most of the time, I am driven to create either using beautiful colors, or at least by portraying motifs that I personally perceive as beautiful. However, that is not always the case: sometimes even I don't know what will end up on the paper, or why. Kafkaesque is exactly that kind of piece. Aesthetically speaking, it is without a doubt the ugliest work I have ever painted —it is a piece that demands a lot from both its surroundings and its owner— but experientially, it was a valuable and liberating process. As an artist born under the sign of Virgo, I have often struggled to switch off my need for control during the creative process; it has frequently been a constant battle to just let the creation look however it happens to look that day, without trying to micromanage my impulses.
In that sense, Kafkaesque also symbolizes an important transition in my own work. The motif came to me as an intuitive download, the kind of spiritual "download" I often receive. It was difficult to capture on paper, because I felt a resistance toward this "ugly" and rather grotesque style of painting emerging from my own hands. I had to take breaks from the painting and the motif to psychoanalyze what was actually happening here. With a few years of perspective on the piece, I have drawn my own conclusions and stopped overthinking it. I will leave it up to you, the viewer, what you read into the image.
Kafkaesque measures 50x70 cm and is framed in a thin black frame with plexiglass. Part of the artwork consists of white, sponged sections applied directly on top of (the outside of) the plexiglass itself. The piece was featured in my 2024 exhibition and comes ready to hang with a wire on the back.

I'm a multidisciplinary creator working with photography, acrylics, watercolour, charcoal and graphite. I've spent my life moving fluidly between visual art and writing, and today I embrace that mix fully: my work is intuitive and playful, driven by curiosity rather than rules.
In my paintings, colourful birds, animals and spiritual motifs often emerge. During 2026, I have also heavily increased my experiments with more abstract expressions. Abstract art is something I have really come to enjoy and will continue to explore further in my work. As a photographer, I am drawn to architecture, cityscapes, animals and nature, exploring both deep black and white and vivid colour.
