Painting series

Painting series entitled "Preparations".
Wedding couple motif in iconography – The history of Monidło.

The work presents a series of 11 paintings made with acrylic on canvas.
images come in the following formats:

7 works made in the 35x25 cm format.
2 works in 25x40 cm format.
2 works in 30x40 cm format.

The images are frozen frames of preparations for the wedding ceremony and general preparations for the couple's journey together. The works are an inspiration for photographic and painting techniques and a motif for portraiture. The colors of the works are mostly monochromatic, referring to black and white photography. The images create a series of new perspectives on the theme of weddings.
Most of the images are placed in close frames so that when they are presented individually they create an abstract frame, the barely visible realistic detail makes us read them as representational. Sometimes images are superimposed on each other, interpenetrating each other. After hanging one next to the other they create a complete story. In my work, I used photographs found on the Internet, taken by random photographers, I cut them out and combined them. In the procces of creating a painting collage from various elements, I sometimes overlapped certain elements. From the beginning, in my work, I wanted to focus on the documentary function of photography, recording a real situation, just as Zofia Rydet did in her work. Therefore, in order to stick to the original concept, I chose ready-made photos, after making sure that they were in one catalog with photos documenting the conclusion of the sacrament of marriage by the bride and groom. Finally, I would like to thank Dr. hab Maria Kiesner for the help and support on her way through master's studies.
