Monero Schagalie

Gothenburg, Västra Götaland County Born: 1969 My name is Monero Schagalie and I work as an artist based in Gothenburg. I am educated at, among others, the University of Design and Arts and Crafts and Valand in Gothenburg. I have also studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York. I mainly work in oil, but also draw and create in collage technique. For me, speed and explosiveness in painting are important. It is my temperament, my feelings and my drama that are retold in my painting. I draw inspiration from the subconscious, where reality, colors and shapes can be the model for my creation. I have always been interested in a different form of art, I have developed my own abstract painting after many years of practice, experiments and studies on chemical reaction between different materials.

I see my art as a healing art, a flow of energy from my hands reaches the viewer through the canvas with composition of natural patterns and vivid colors. When I was asked for the first time to give an award to my art, it generated a kind of block for me in creativity. I believe that money and art should be separated. I decided to sell my painting through private negotiations between the buyer and me. The money will be used for remote adoptions of children living in poverty, to guarantee them a life they could not otherwise have. I will just keep the cost I had to buy the materials I used so that I can continue to make my art and continue to experiment.
