Rebecca Swenning

My name is Rebecca and I'm a 25 year old artist. I work on a broad front with different type of material and techniques. For me, the material isn't as important as the subject of the artwork. I pick a material based on the feeling i want to mediate.

The ultimate goal of my work is to do more for the people whom view it. I want to reach out to as many people as possible and help them to dare talk about their mental state, reduce the shame of victims of mental/physical abuse and show that they are not alone. With this I hope to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, trauma and abuse. The secondary goal of the art I wish to create and have already created is to provide an insight on several mental illnesses and forms of abuse in order to broaden their understandings on the subjects.
I see my work as a world where I get to express myself completely free of limitations.
During the creation of my work I also process my own past, which serves as a base of inspiration for most of my artwork.
