Noel Inggs

I am a South African artist living and working in Stockholm. My little living room studio can be found a stone throw away from Drottningholm.

My lively African upbringing informs much of the work I create. As a child I spent a lot of time living close to nature. The inequality that I experienced due to South African Nationalism had a huge impact on my life and as a result I often make works that comment on societal structures.

I studied at Michaelis School of Fine Art, majoring in sculpture. However during my degree I worked across many different discplines and as a result I work in a variety of mediums. This also means that aesthetically my work can vary.

Currently I am focusing on large scale acrylic paintings that either comments on the female experience or looks at different natural phenomena. Occasionally- if I have enough material to do so- I create assemblage pieces out of found objects. I can also be found experimenting with watercolour illustrations.

Utbildning
I studied Art at Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town and graduated with an honours in sculpture.

Utställningar
My first solo exhibition took place at Michaelis School of Fine Art. I installed, displayed and promoted my own show.

Since finishing my degree in Sculpture I have worked as a gallery technician. I have focused mainly on displaying other artists work.

Recently I have started setting up Pop Up displays of my work in and around Stocholm. Please look out for the next installation.

Currently I am working on my application for a masters degree in International Curatorship at Stockholm University.
