Maja Sommestad

I’m Maja, a 19 year old Swedish woman living in Uppsala.

I’ve always found art interesting, since childhood. My mother and grandmother introduced me to their art when I was 6 years old. At 10 years old, I was selling my first self-made creation at my grandma’s gallery. On saturdays and many breaks my mother used to bring me with her to the graphic gallery. I learned a lot about painting and graphic while studying school. Along these years I used to paint, it was til my teenage began when I left it.

But I did a comeback in October 2022, I realized that I created more than just a drawing on a paper. I began to think that if you had passion for something and really wanted it to be shown by others, you could picture a result of it in your head, and try to create it and make it real on paper so that others could see it.

My abstract and mixed art is the creation of my running thoughts that I express by using different colors and create uneven patterns. My paintings shares the same concept, based on my experience of having ADHD. I usually describe my art as a welcoming party into my brain, a painting who includes information and brings overwhelming feelings to the ones witnessing it. I seek for the people’s reactions, their feelings and their descriptions of my paintings. People witnessing my paintings always see different things, and they do often find interests or similarities to themselves.
