Emma Joan is a New York–born oil painter known for her loose realism and expressive depictions of food and everyday subjects. Through vibrant color and intuitive brushwork, she transforms familiar scenes into rich visual stories that evoke warmth, nostalgia, and connection. After earning an Associate of Arts degree from Santa Barbara City College and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado Boulder, Emma briefly explored the culinary world by co-owning a restaurant with her father before returning to her first love, painting. Now working as a full-time artist, Emma divides her time between New York and Sweden and continues to explore the simple beauty, artful joy, and shared experiences found in food.
