About my art
Angelica Hogarth is an artist and architect, and as well runs her own ateljer and studio, each with its own character, in Provence, France. She has been actively involved in the arts for over 4 decades, creating installations with steel structures, ceramic and wood sculptures, mural frescos, and visual art, has shown her work in over 40 exhibitions on three different continents, (North-South America and Europe). Her work is in the permanent collection of the Art Museum Tigre, the MAT, and in the Library of Congress, the LOC.
She holds a MA in Art from the UNA, the Beaux Arts Academy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a Master in Architecture from the Frank LL. Wright School of Architecture in AZ, USA.
She has been closely connected, and worked with artists and architects, such as Beatriz Orosco sculptress, Carlos Benvenuto, Italian muralist, David Dodge FLLWF architect, Stephen Nemtin FLLWF architect, Heloise Crista sculptress, Frank Henri FLLWF architect.
Angelica implements Beaux Arts and Architecture to express art as a continuous creative process, in various ways: different and variable, depicting a language where contingency dices stroke-stain line, color, light and forms in the space.
She states that her art vision is to capture forces from natures struggle to survive time, account for its irregular shadow, and the impact of human footprint, in the natural world. And, she notes, "The turning point in art is to seize what is missing in the void between us, humans, and the reality."
The inspiration for Angelica comes from materials such as wood, clay, steel, and paint.
Sculpture
When sculpting wood, I realized that its plasticity harvest of nature, invoking its past in the event in which two forces, that of the artist-sculptor and that of nature, embrace the expression of a gestalt transformation as a germ to inspiration. Man can't reproduce nature but a wood sculpture can embrace that natural energy and persist thru time as the veritable relationship with the layer beneath our feet. Joy and Hope is to perceive the plasticity of natural forces in wood, express the soul of an individual nature in its own cultural way, and see nature as being a part of the whole.
Creation what art intent does to the reality of forms?
so different and variable are organic forms in nature from what is art creation,
so different is the way art intent makes visible and before becoming.
So, I look in nature what we have in common, man and nature,
in the spinning relation of the human expression that reflects existence,
so, I evoke joy and hope as an ecological perspective in the art realm,
and in the life adventure interacting with natures past, she writes.
Mural painting
Angelica Hogarth conceives the art of mural painting in close relation to architecture, which demurs to be enclosed, releases from the tension of the frame, and emerges towards the walls and floors to become a cosmos.
She has applied fresco coloring techniques in concrete, indoors and outdoors, in art and architecture projects such as wall and floor painting murals from a process of Trait-Tache. These techniques have become effective and visually attractive to their buildings and sustainable environments.
She departs from what comes first to her, I follow no other thoughts, but letting the lyric expression to spring, she recalls.
