I want my art to spread the good feeling and vibrations of well being as I feel when I paint.
To paint gives me joy, strength and peace.

My name is Maria Johansson and I am born and raised in Forsa, a village in the north of Sweden.

I thank my mother for helping me find the
interest of painting. She showed me the world of colors and I remember that I most of all enjoyed the oil colors as a child. With them I could paint over, redo if something went wrong, different från the watercolors we usually used. In was also only at special occasions that mum let us use the oilpastels, when she had enough time. It was a bit more complicated with them, specially detergents, strong smells and so on. But a whole box filled with silver colored tubes with small black caps and labels with all the colors from the rainbow, that was really beautiful and attractive.

We did’nt paint with acrylics me and mum, I don’t really know why. Maybe it just wasn’t so popular in the 80s. But today I have come to love them, of the same reason as the oilpaintings, layer of layer until I get satisfied.

The Icon painting is a very new area for me to explore. I see much potential in it. Very very powerful motifs created in deep mindfulness. All my icons are blessed by a priest.
