Yulia Lyasko
Norrtälje
My name is Yulia Lyasko. I was born in Saint-Petersburg.
I became passionate about painting in 2009 and began studying at the studio of artist Alexey Skryabin.
My paintings are born from contemplation — of the world, of nature, of people. Silence is very important to me — more inner than outer. From this state, you begin to feel yourself differently, to see the world around you anew. You start to admire it, to be surprised by it — or, on the contrary, to feel sadness, and to contemplate that sadness as well. I like to express through my paintings my impressions and emotions — for example, from meeting a person, from the blooming of pink chestnut trees, or from the taste and aroma of wine.
My second profession is that of a sommelier. After getting acquainted with the culture and history of wine, I realized that wine offers a whole palette of sensations and flavors. It broadens one’s perception not only of the drink itself but of life as a whole.I've seen grapevines grow, wine is born, and I've spoken with winemakers many times. They are amazing people! Making wine is a way of life for them. I had the idea to paint something about the mystery of wine's birth. This is how the paintings "The Mystery of the Vine," "Symphony of Red Wine," "Sauvignon Blanc," and "Sweet Wine" came to be. This series will continue.
For me, painting is an incredible pleasure, a joy, a chance to be present in the moment. Through paint and brushstrokes, I leave a piece of my soul in each work, because not everything can be expressed in words, but the creative process allows it.
