Här andas Chiloés dimmor.
Blågrönt vatten och mörk jord har lagt sig lager på lager, som en skorpa där minnet av Kai Kai och Tren Tren ännu dröjer.
I myten stiger ormen Kai Kai, vattnets ande, för att svälja världen, medan ormen Tren Tren, jordens berg, höjer sig för att rädda och hålla människorna vid liv.
Men här finns ingen våldsam kamp snarare ett stilla möte.
Vattnet sipprar in, jorden bär, och i sprickorna föds nya berättelser.
Mapu jorden är ett landskap som rymmer vår egen kropp: både hav och mineral.
Here breathe the mists of Chiloé.
Blue-green waters and dark soil have settled in layers, a crust where the memory of Kai Kai and Tren Tren still lingers.
In the myth, the serpent Kai Kai, spirit of the waters, rises to swallow the world,
while the serpent Tren Tren, the mountains of the earth, rises to save and sustain human life.
Yet here, there is no violent struggle
only a quiet meeting.
Water seeps in, earth holds steady,
and in the fractures, new stories are born.
Maputhe earth
is a landscape that mirrors our own body:
both ocean and mineral.
