Afghansk flicka, 2016
Akvarell
20 x 30 x 1 cm
an Afghan child, partially covered with a green headscarf and a shawl. I focused on the subject’s eyes, making them dark and expressive, as if they are gazing directly at the viewer. Instead of precise details, I used loose brushstrokes and an impressionistic style, blending earthy tones like browns, blacks, and yellows to shape the face.
For the background, I chose soft, muted washes of pink and beige, allowing the colors to flow freely into the textured paper. This technique creates a dreamlike, almost melancholic atmosphere. The fluidity of watercolor allowed me to let the colors bleed into one another, adding depth and emotion to the piece.
Through this painting, I aimed to convey a sense of mystery, resilience, and perhaps a quiet sadness. The expressive brushwork and color choices reflect a story—one that hints at strength, hardship, or cultural significance.

Hej!
