On Långholmen, 2018

Walking around the island of Södermalm, my legs can wander onto one of the bridges that puts you onto Långholmen. This is a lovely quiet island, with lots of places to sit on the outer edge and gaze over at Kungsholmen. It offers a dog beach, an outdoor amphitheater, a hotel, koloniträdgårder, and a fängelsemuseet, or a retired prison museum. Here is a beautiful old building with the nice falun red exterior. I believe it is a litography studio. What caught my eye was the sky's reflection and bright blue in a few of the windows.
This is painted on Arches 300g/m watercolor paper using winsor & newton professional watercolor paints.

I am an American artist, mother and wife, now calling Sweden my home. My creative journey is intertwined with the exploration of this culture and its landscape. I hold a B.F.A. in Illustration, majoring in Children’s Book Illustration. I use that practice when I am painting to capture a moment or a feeling and give it a story. My goal is to create works that not only celebrate the beauty of my surroundings but also share the everyday moments of life and bring joy or warmth to the viewer. My work also extends to illustrating and designing children's books.
