This is a story about the inner conflict between the desire to reach for something that seems unattainable and the fear of losing that special moment when it is within arm’s reach.
The boundaries of reality begin to blur. Sunlight gently touches the thirsty skin, and time lazily moves forward. The deepest desires are within reach - completely real and tangible. Yet, somewhere in the back of my mind, ignored, there’s a quiet knock. As if trying to remind me that I know well enough that it’s too beautiful to be true, that it will end soon. It’s just a waking dream.
Why this uncertainty? Where is this knock coming from? After all, just one step would be enough to cross the elusive boundary. And yet, I’m fearfull, that in a moment, I will wake up to ordinary reality.
Maybe it’s not a dream or the fear of waking up. Maybe it’s the fear of reaching for something that seems unattainable, even though it’s already within arm’s reach.
