Art Is An Important Part of Society, 2024
Akryl
30 x 19,5 x 4 cm
Acrylic painting of wood on wood. How great this is. Not just a realistic painting of the piece of wood, but one that is represented on the exact piece of wood itself. My therapist kept trying to convince me that art is, and always has been, an important part of society. I would very much like to believe that's true, and therefor whatever I'm doing matters. But shit, I don't. Every day I'm fighting the feeling of being useless, being selfish and not playing my part in this world. What she said sounded more to me like trying to find that reason why it is important.
Funny thing is I do think art is important, maybe even the most important (after basic needs are met), just not my work.
Keep telling this to yourself, and maybe one day I'll believe it. I'll beleive that whatever I'm doing is as essestial as the workers outside my house, renovating, or the garbage man coming to pick up our garbage. Then, maybe then I'll start believing in this, and loose this imposter syndrome and stop invalidating my work.

Hägersten
Graphic Designer by day, Artist by night. Robin explores himself and the world around him through his art practice. Mostly jokes and reflections on ridiculous events, trends and visuals all around us. He takes on a conversation with these pieces, most of the time within himself, through inside jokes, hopefully with the viewer and other visual artists as well.
