I was walking in the woods, surrounded by the gentle rustle of leaves and the soft chirping of birds, when I stumbled upon an intriguing sight: a whole bunch of delicate wings hanging to dry from the branches of a nearby tree. My initial curiosity was piqued, and I approached the scene with a sense of wonder. Upon closer inspection, however, I realized that these wings were not from any fantastical creature, but rather the "noses" of the maple tree, a term I had learned to describe the unique seed pods that dangle from the branches. Each pod was a testament to the tree's reproductive cycle, showcasing nature's ingenuity in ensuring the continuation of its species. As I stood there, my mind began to wander, contemplating the mysteries of the forest. Who had hung their wings there, I wondered? Was it a playful spirit of the woods, or perhaps a whimsical fairy who had decided to dry her delicate wings in the warm sunlight filtering through the canopy? The thought brought a smile to my face, as I imagined the tiny beings that might flit about in this enchanted realm, hidden from human eyes yet deeply intertwined with the life of the forest. Just then, a little bee came buzzing by, its tiny body glistening in the sunlight as it flitted from flower to flower. There it is! The wings of the bee were remarkably similar to those I had just observed, although they were, of course, a different size. The intricate veining and translucent quality of the bee's wings mirrored the delicate structure of the maple's seed pods, creating an unexpected connection between the two. It struck me how the harmony of nature was complete in this moment; the bee, a pollinator vital to the health of the ecosystem, was drawn to the very trees that provided sustenance for its kind. This encounter filled me with a profound appreciation for the interconnectedness of all living things. The wings that hung so serenely in the trees were not just remnants of the maple's life cycle, but a reminder of the intricate web of relationships that exist within the natural world. Each element, from the smallest insect to the towering trees, played a role in maintaining the balance of this vibrant ecosystem. As I continued my walk, I felt a renewed sense of wonder at the beauty and complexity of nature, grateful for the opportunity to witness such a delicate moment in the woods.

Amid the chaos of current events, I made a conscious decision to transition from dark, politically charged oil paintings on linen to vibrant, playful works on smaller wood panels. This shift not only reflects my desire to evoke joy but also illustrates the importance of laughter during serious times. Each wooden panel is meticulously grounded with pearl paint, creating a delicate lace-like frame around the artwork. In a world often overshadowed by turmoil, my goal is to bring smiles and light through beautiful, humorous expressions.
