Superman's profound affection for blue is a well-known facet of his character, a trait that has become synonymous with the Man of Steel. On the island of Hydra, this love for blue is not just part of him but also envelops him. The serene blue sky and deep azure waters gently caressing the shores create a tranquil environment that resonates with his soul.

As he touches down on Hydra's picturesque landscape, Superman is greeted by the sight of a quaint chapel adorned with a slight blue door, a charming echo of the colour that holds a special place in his heart. Even his parachute, matching the vibrant blue of his iconic suit, reminds him of his affinity for this calming shade.

While his cape, shorts, and boots may boast a bold crimson hue, the soothing presence of blue truly resonates with Superman, grounding him in a sense of peace and serenity amidst his daring adventures. As he explores the enchanting island of Hydra, he can't help but marvel at the beauty of the world around him, each shade of blue serving as a reminder of the boundless possibilities that await. His adventures on Hydra, whether rescuing a stranded hiker or discovering a hidden treasure, are thrilling escapades and opportunities for him to learn and grow as a hero.

In his later years, Superman discovered a new joy: the thrill of sharing his adventures with a trusty albatross named Albie. The notion of an albatross soaring through the skies at the leisurely pace of an albatross, with Superman comfortably perched on its back, fills the heart with wonder and excitement.

Together, they embark on daring journeys across the globe, their destination set on the breathtaking island of Hydra. Cruising over the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, Superman finds solace in the rhythmic flapping of Albie's wings, a gentle reminder of the beauty and tranquillity of the natural world. Seeing a pod of dolphins playing in the waves or a school of fish darting through the water is a scenic view and a source of inspiration and wonder for Superman.
As they approach Hydra's rugged terrain, Superman realises that landing might pose a challenge for his feathered friend. With a twinkle in his eye and a chuckle, Superman bids farewell to Albie and gracefully deploys his trusty parachute, gently descending to the picturesque island below. It's just another day in the life of the Man of Steel, where even the most straightforward adventures are filled with whimsy and wonder.

In the vast landscape of superheroes, one figure soars above them all, not just because he can fly, but because he embodies the essence of heroism with an iconic "S" emblazoned on his chest. Yes, we're talking about none other than the Man of Steel himself: Superman!

Imagine, if you will, a distant planet named Krypton facing its impending doom. In a desperate attempt to save their infant son, Jor-El and Lara launch him towards Earth, where he crash-lands in the heartland of America, Smallville, Kansas. This small, idyllic town becomes more than just a home for young Clark Kent; it becomes the foundation of his character. Adopted by the loving Kent family, he grows up unaware of his extraterrestrial origins, possessing powers far beyond those of mortal men. The values of hard work, honesty, and compassion that he learns in Smallville shape him into the hero he will become.

Thus begins the tale of Superman, a story of truth, justice, and the American way. By day, he masquerades as the mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent, clumsily navigating the bustling newsroom of the Daily Planet alongside his intrepid colleague, Lois Lane. His role as a reporter is not just a cover but a way for him to stay connected to the world he's sworn to protect and use his powers for good differently. But when duty calls, he sheds his glasses, dons his iconic red cape, and takes to the skies as the superhero the world knows and loves.

With powers ranging from superhuman strength and speed to flight and heat vision, Superman stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for humanity. But let's not forget his infamous weakness: Kryptonite. Whether it's the green variety, red, gold, or even pink, some form of Kryptonite lurks around to thwart our hero's plans and bring him to his knees. This vulnerability, this Achilles' heel, is crucial to Superman's character. It reminds us that even the strongest among us have their weaknesses and that true strength lies in how we overcome them.

But what truly distinguishes Superman isn't just his superpowers; it's his unyielding commitment to doing what's right, regardless of the cost. Whether rescuing kittens from trees, thwarting bank robberies, or confronting his arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor, Superman always prioritises others over himself. His selflessness and heroism are not just words but actions that define him. His battles with Lex Luthor, a man of great intellect and cunning, are physical and psychological, testing Superman's resolve and his belief in the inherent goodness of humanity.

Superman's iconic costume, with its form-fitting blue suit, flowing red cape, and the red and yellow 'S' emblem on his chest, is more than just a uniform. It's a symbol transcending borders and languages, a beacon of hope in a world often shrouded in darkness. Its image inspires and uplifts, reminding us of the power of a single individual to make a difference.

However, perhaps what makes Superman truly special is his humanity, despite being an alien from another world. Despite his god-like abilities, he grapples with the same doubts, fears, and insecurities as the rest of us. It's a reminder that heroism isn't just about what you can do; it's about who you are and your choices.

Since Superman speaks most of Earth's languages, he wouldn't have any trouble singing the song about him in Italian, the original language. In most versions of Superman, he can speak almost every language, including human languages. Due to his enhanced brain, he can quickly learn whatever he wants to learn and then retain all information with perfect memory recall.

So here's to Superman, the ultimate superhero, the Last Son of Krypton, the Man of Tomorrow. In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, may we all strive to embody the same values of truth, justice, and compassion he represents. In the end, as Superman once said, "There is a right and a wrong in the universe, and that distinction is not hard to make." Now, if only we could all have a phone booth handy for those quick costume changes. He descended slowly towards Hydra's rocky soil while shouting:

“One, two, three, quattro
Dormire

Autostop
Starnuto
Camminare
Nuotare
Sciare

The Superman series has been published in many countries around the world. Since its creation, it has been translated into many different languages and distributed globally, making it one of the most internationally recognised and beloved superheroes. It's difficult to give an exact number of countries where the Superman series has been published, but it could be hundreds or thousands over the years. Superman has a global reach and has become an icon in popular culture worldwide.

Alright, buckle up for the "Superman" wild ride, also known as "Gioca Jouer." The 1981 novelty song is like a disco fever dream cooked up by Italian maestros Claudio Cecchetto and Claudio Simonetti. But hold onto your capes because the real shenanigans begin with the 1983 rendition by Black Lace that took the UK by storm!

Italy's Festival di Sanremo of 1981 starts with the catchy "Gioca Jouer," setting dancefloors ablaze across the boot-shaped nation. Then, like a speeding locomotive, the song zooms into Spain, becoming the hot jam in every discotheque. Enter John Wagstaff, head honcho of Flair Records, on the hunt for musical gold. He hears "Gioca Jouer" and thinks, "That's it! We'll make it 'Superman' in English!"

Now, let's talk about the dance moves. We've got everything from sleeping to hitching rides, from sneezing to flexing those muscles like a "Macho Man," and flying like Superman himself. It's a veritable smorgasbord of choreographic chaos, all laid out on the record sleeve for your dancing pleasure.

But wait, there's more! The Black Lace rendition, featuring the legendary drum fill by Wakefield's very own Barry Huffinley, is a masterpiece of sequencer wizardry recorded in the hallowed halls of Woodlands Studio in Normanton, West Yorkshire. And if you thought things couldn't get any wilder, think again. In 1987, Colin Gibb dropped "Supercock," an alternative version with lyrics that would make even Superman blush.

Now, let's talk reception. "Superman" swoops into the UK charts in September 1983 like a superhero on a mission. It peaks at No. 9 and spends a whopping 20 weeks in the top 100. The song has become a staple at children's parties across the UK, inspiring countless covers and earning its place in the annals of musical history.

So, there you have it, folks. "Superman," the song that's as wild and wacky as the man himself, flying high and bringing joy to discotheques and children's parties. Who knew Nietzsche's Übermensch concept could get such a groovy makeover?

Lite om bilder och mig. Translation in English at the end.

A bit about pictures and me.

I'm a curious person who sees everything in pictures, even what I express in words, often combining them, for behind all my pictures lies a story. These narratives, some as short as a single image and others as long as a novel, are the heart and soul of my work.

Pictures tell stories. Wherever I go, I'm surrounded by natural beauty, exciting people, and history. I use my camera to document the world and blend what I see with what I feel to capture the hidden magic.
My images tell my stories. Through my pictures, prints, and narratives, I invite you to partake in these stories in your life and home and share my deeply personal perspective of our world. More than meets the eye. I think in pictures, dream, write, and talk about them; consequently, I must create images too. They become what I see, not necessarily confined to reality. There's a picture around every corner. I hope you'll see what I saw and enjoy it.

I'm also a writer, and many images come with a shorter or longer essay. It accompanies the painting, printed on fine paper with my personal greeting.

Many pictures start their journey on my camera. Simply put, I describe the image I see in my mind, experienced or imagined. The image arises within me even before I bring the eyepiece to my eye. In a fraction of a moment, I see what I want and what can be done with the picture. Here, I'll insert a giraffe, Superman, the Titanic, or whatever my imagination conjures up. Even stranger is that I remember the mental image long after it's time to create the work. Whether I succeed is up to the observer, often imbued with a streak of black humour – the aim is to entertain. My pictures usually become a talking point wherever they hang.

I prefer pictures that convey a message in multiple layers. At first glance, they're filled with feel-good vibes, a beautiful view, lovely weather, the sun shining, flowers in the meadow, or the water lying deceptively calm. But beneath this surface beauty, I often conceal a deeper story, a narrative that challenges societal norms or explores the human condition. I invite you to delve into these hidden narratives and discover the layers of meaning within my work.

Picture and design have been a thread running through my life. Photographic art feels like a fitting finale, and I'm happy to share it.
My genre is varied, as seen in my pictures; the theme is a blend of pop and street art in collages that can consist of hundreds of layers. Some images can take weeks, others just a day before it's time to hand over the result to the print workshop. Fine Art Prints are digital photo collages. In these collages, tearing, cutting, puzzling, painting, drawing, and spraying happen digitally. What I insert can be images hundreds of years old that I carefully extract so they appear to be part of the painting, but also images created by myself, now also generated from my imagination. Next, visit the print studio and, for certain images, number a limited edition (usually 7 copies) and sign them by hand. Some images may be available in other formats. Just ask which ones. If you like an image that's 70x100 but doesn't have space on the wall, you might be able to get it in 50x70 cm instead. The question is open.

The Giclée method, or Fine Art Print as it's also called, is the modern way of producing graphic art. This method ensures the highest quality and longevity of the artwork, using a high-quality large-format printer with archival pigment inks and artist paper or, in some cases, canvas. The paper used meets the longevity requirements set by museums and galleries. I sell my pictures unframed, allowing the new owner to personalise their artwork, confident in the lasting value and quality of the piece.

For many years, I only exhibited online, in selected groups, and on my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/jorgen.thornberg.9. I also have my website, which unfortunately is not constantly updated - https://www.jth.life/. You can also read some of the stories accompanying the pictures there.
