Clowns often have a happy and a dark side. I choose to depict the happy one in my painting. Clowns capture an interesting duality usually associated with them. On the one hand, they represent joy, fun, and entertainment; on the other hand, they can have a darker side associated with horror and discomfort. This duality can reflect human complexity and our various facets of personality and emotional richness. Clowns can act as a mirror for our fears and horror fantasies while also providing a playful and entertaining experience. It is this aspect that makes them both fascinating and frightening at the same time.

No wonder oranges always look cheerful. They can reflect the smiles of those who gaze upon them and enjoy their fresh sweetness even before they put them in their mouths. The orange is the clown's happy side, while the lemon is its opposite. If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, the orange scares away all bad spirits.

The orange Frida was the happiest orange in the whole fruit basket. One evening, Frida went to a party to have fun but unfortunately ended up in bad company with some sour oranges and bitter Seville oranges. They tried to ruin Frida's happy mood with dull stories and gloomy comments. For a moment, Frida felt down but didn't want to let the sour lemons and bitter Seville oranges get her down. No, when she came home and looked in the mirror, she saw the radiant, happy orange she knew she was. She smiled and thought, "Why should I care about what the boring fruits say? I am proud of who I am!"

So the next time you feel down because of someone's sour comments, remember Frida and her cheerful attitude. Look in the mirror and be proud of the unique person you are. Because everyone can't love you, and that's perfectly okay. Even oranges have their sceptics!

My artist colleague, Krister Andersson, has a deep love for oranges and has dedicated his art to this delightful fruit. His childhood collection of the beautifully decorated thin tissue paper that used to be wrapped around each imported fruit now forms a part of his artistic work. Through his paintings, he brings joy to people, showcasing the power of artistic expression in empowerment. If you're craving this unique experience, you can find his oranges here. http://www.kason.se/

"Happy Days Are Here Again" is that tune from 1929 that just won't quit, thanks to Milton Ager and Jack Yellen. It's like the party anthem that crashed Franklin D. Roosevelt's campaign in '32 and never left. Picture this: the Democratic National Convention, everyone's in a funk, and then BAM! Someone shouts, "Play something else!" Cue the band, and cue the cheers. It's been the Democrats' jam ever since. And guess what? It's going public in 2025, so get ready to party like it's 1929! It's number 47 on the Recording Industry Association of America's "Songs of the Century" list and has been recorded by various artists. Barbra Streisand's rendition, notably slow and expressive, gained popularity. Streisand recorded it in 1962 and again in 1963 for her debut solo album. She performed it with Judy Garland in 1963 on "The Judy Garland Show" and in 1967 at Central Park. Oh, and Barbra Streisand? In '62, she gave it her twist, slow and soulful, like a melodramatic millionaire trading jewellery for drinks. It's Classic Streisand.

On a May 1962 episode of The Garry Moore Show, Streisand sang the song during the That Wonderful Year skit, which represented 1929. She performed it ironically as a female millionaire who had just lost her money and entered a bar, giving the bartender her expensive jewellery in exchange for drinks. Easy come. Easy go.

What's the deal with orange? This vibrant hue has a lot going on! Did you know it can be as attention-grabbing as a flashing neon sign but as comforting as a cosy autumn evening? Here's the lowdown:

Orange packs a punch. It's like the energiser bunny of colours, always bringing excitement and enthusiasm to the party. No wonder sports teams love it for their uniforms – it's like wearing a shot of espresso!

But orange isn't just about hype; it's also a mood booster. It's the colour of sunny days and juicy oranges, making us feel warm and fuzzy inside. And when it comes to shopping, orange screams "fun" and "affordable," making us want to splurge a little.

And get this: orange isn't just a colour; it's a vibe. In some cultures, it's all about spirituality and letting go of materialism. Monks rock orange robes as a symbol of simplicity and inner peace.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows. Orange has its dark side, too. It can bring out feelings of arrogance or remind us of chilly autumn days. And let's not forget its role in Halloween – sometimes it's more trick than treat!

In the end, orange is like a mood ring – it reflects whatever vibes we're feeling. So whether you're optimistic or impatient, there's an orange for every occasion.

Orange symbolises many different things to different people. Some common associations include:

Optimism; Energy; Positivity; Attention; Warmth; Luxury; Prestige; Creativity; Hopelessness; Deceit; Impatience; Pride; Youthfulness and not the least Happiness.

How the colour orange is used can impact what it symbolises. A warm orange paired with golds and deep reds might call to mind a setting sun or the vibrant colour of Autumn leaves. A drab orange paired with blacks and browns might instead bring to mind sadness, decay, and death.

Lite om bilder och mig. Translation in English at the end.

A bit about pictures and me.

I'm a curious person who sees everything in pictures, even what I express in words, often combining them, for behind all my pictures lies a story. These narratives, some as short as a single image and others as long as a novel, are the heart and soul of my work.

Pictures tell stories. Wherever I go, I'm surrounded by natural beauty, exciting people, and history. I use my camera to document the world and blend what I see with what I feel to capture the hidden magic.
My images tell my stories. Through my pictures, prints, and narratives, I invite you to partake in these stories in your life and home and share my deeply personal perspective of our world. More than meets the eye. I think in pictures, dream, write, and talk about them; consequently, I must create images too. They become what I see, not necessarily confined to reality. There's a picture around every corner. I hope you'll see what I saw and enjoy it.

I'm also a writer, and many images come with a shorter or longer essay. It accompanies the painting, printed on fine paper with my personal greeting.

Many pictures start their journey on my camera. Simply put, I describe the image I see in my mind, experienced or imagined. The image arises within me even before I bring the eyepiece to my eye. In a fraction of a moment, I see what I want and what can be done with the picture. Here, I'll insert a giraffe, Superman, the Titanic, or whatever my imagination conjures up. Even stranger is that I remember the mental image long after it's time to create the work. Whether I succeed is up to the observer, often imbued with a streak of black humour – the aim is to entertain. My pictures usually become a talking point wherever they hang.

I prefer pictures that convey a message in multiple layers. At first glance, they're filled with feel-good vibes, a beautiful view, lovely weather, the sun shining, flowers in the meadow, or the water lying deceptively calm. But beneath this surface beauty, I often conceal a deeper story, a narrative that challenges societal norms or explores the human condition. I invite you to delve into these hidden narratives and discover the layers of meaning within my work.

Picture and design have been a thread running through my life. Photographic art feels like a fitting finale, and I'm happy to share it.
My genre is varied, as seen in my pictures; the theme is a blend of pop and street art in collages that can consist of hundreds of layers. Some images can take weeks, others just a day before it's time to hand over the result to the print workshop. Fine Art Prints are digital photo collages. In these collages, tearing, cutting, puzzling, painting, drawing, and spraying happen digitally. What I insert can be images hundreds of years old that I carefully extract so they appear to be part of the painting, but also images created by myself, now also generated from my imagination. Next, visit the print studio and, for certain images, number a limited edition (usually 7 copies) and sign them by hand. Some images may be available in other formats. Just ask which ones. If you like an image that's 70x100 but doesn't have space on the wall, you might be able to get it in 50x70 cm instead. The question is open.

The Giclée method, or Fine Art Print as it's also called, is the modern way of producing graphic art. This method ensures the highest quality and longevity of the artwork, using a high-quality large-format printer with archival pigment inks and artist paper or, in some cases, canvas. The paper used meets the longevity requirements set by museums and galleries. I sell my pictures unframed, allowing the new owner to personalise their artwork, confident in the lasting value and quality of the piece.

For many years, I only exhibited online, in selected groups, and on my Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/jorgen.thornberg.9. I also have my website, which unfortunately is not constantly updated - https://www.jth.life/. You can also read some of the stories accompanying the pictures there.
