ÁREG

ÁREG is an Icelandic artist based in Knivsta. ÁREG has been an active artist from young age and has expressed her creativity through drawings, paintings, sculptures and mixed media arts.

For the last 6 years ÁREG has been making analog collages, using material consisting of old books and magazines found at flea markets and second hand stores. All of her collages are created by hand with scalpel, small scissors, glue and paper.

ÁREG seeks inspiration from her surroundings and her strong connection to Icelandic nature and Swedish forests.

The naked and natural female body and women's sexuality are often in focus and are portrayed in beautiful combinations of colour and shape, hidden in old Renaissance works or celebrated together with animals and nature.

The diversity of human sexuality is highlighted in her pieces in different ways. From heterosexuality to homosexualities and everything in between, as well as monogamy to polyamory can be seen and praised in her work. Asexuals are not forgotten - figures that show the longing for a romantic or platonic life partner without feeling sexual attraction have a given place in ÁREG's art.
